decide which one to showcase first. I decided to settle for
the kitchen. I don't know if many of you know, but I am a
huge fan of Midcentury modern Eichler homes. This one
just came onto the market north of San Francisco and it is
absolutely gorgeous. It's a gallery Eichler styled home that
was very tastefully renovated and the home was extended
to 2,400 square feet. I'm not even a huge fan of gallery
kitchens but I like this one.

Eichler Homes: Design for LivingIn the meantime, if you're interested
in seeing or reading more about Eichler
homes, here are a couple of great books.
Eichler: Modernism Rebuildsthe American Dream
This book is in black and white. The Eichler
home is named after Joseph Eichler who initially
designed these homes en masse. Can you imagine
owning a track home that looked like the above
home? He designed huge tracts of track homes in
the 1950's and 1960's. To this day, his homes are
highly in demand and they are still as hip as ever.
His firm designed and built over 11,000 homes in
Northern and Southern California and they've come
to be known as simply "Eichlers."

What about those views - extraordinary, xv.

Oh sweet Karen, I ABSOLUTELY love this!!!
This is a gorgeous home. While I am a traditionalist at my core, I really think I could be comfortable in this space. While being open it is not cold or sparse but has a good balance.

Have you seen the post I did about the Eichler house numbers? There's a whole website devoted to them, and they're super cool; a great way to have a little slice of Eichler for yourself. Great post as usual my dear!

Gorgeous house - not my usual style, but I love how it's clean & modern, but not sterile.
This house is fabulous. The natural lighting is great, and the open courtyard is a dream of mine!!
This house is SO beautiful, it hurts!
But I'll deal w/ the pain:)

Thanks so much for the comment over at Urban Flea! Isn't it nuts they've got a site devoted just to the house numbers? All I can say is I'm kind of in love. Thanks again for the comment my dear! Cheers!
